Abstract
Address delivered at an open meeting of the A.N.S. (Afrikaanse Nasionale Studentebond), Stellenbosch. The paper critiques "Turning wheels" by Stuart Cloete and argues the work to be a continuation of a tradition established by John Barrow's work "An account of travels into the interior of Southern Africa".
