This index describes the Ferrie Binge-Coetzee collection which consists of correspondence ; art reviews ; photographs ; catalogues ; clippings.
This collection consists of 14 files compiled by Binge-Coetzee mainly of her life as an artist. It also contains documents regarding her husband, the artist Christo Coetzee. Ferrie Binge-Coetzee is the great granddaughter of Rev. Ferdinand Brecher, the first missionary of the Rhenish Mission Station in Steinkopf. After the death of her first husband, Dr. Ludwig Binge, cultural attaché of the Netherlands (1949-1953), she married Christo Coetzee. The collection also contains numerous postcards mostly written by Christo Coetzee to Anthony Denney, art connoisseur and collector. It also contains a photo album with pictures taken during Coetzee's stay in Japan and a catalogue of paintings donated to Steinkopf by various South African artists requested by Binge-Coetzee. The collection is compiled into 6 pamphlet boxes.
