Fish Hoek, Catholic Church. The Saint John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Fish Hoek was opened in 1951. It has a pretty bell tower that can easily be reached. The bell is a typical British product. Below the shoulder are two pairs of moulding rings with in between John Taylor & Co Founders * Louchborough * England * 1951. Above the sound bow are three more moulding rings and another two on the knee. What is a bit unusual is that there appear remnants of the shipping instructions. Unfortunately, the top line was not recoverable but probably refers to the parish priest that ordered the bell. What could be read was painted in four lines: Rev. … Mer …Mod, Roman Catholic Church, Fish Hoek, Cape Town. The bell is in good shape. It is mounted on a wheel so that the bell can be rung from below.
