Information and photographs of the bell at Lourensford estate, Somerset West. The bell in Lourensford is mounted in a rather unusual but pretty bell tower. The bell itself is professionally made but the crown has been removed. At the top we find two moulding wires followed by a text that runs around the bell. Starting with the seal of Gillett & Johnston, we read the following text in an inscription band: GILLETT & JOHNSTON CROYDON ENGLAND 1931. Just above the sound bow we find the number 3290 which probably refers to a classification number from the foundry. Then follow three moulding wires before the sound bow, followed by three moulding wires at the lip. The bell looks in perfect condition.
