Manuscript coloured chart.
Decorated cartouche with title is towards the lower right. On the right of this is an empty decorated frame, probably intended for a dedication.
Below this are 2 drawings of the mountains of the Peninsula as they appear from the sea. Scale is at foot of the sheet.
Only decorations are an 8 point compass rose in False Bay & 7 ships in Simon's Bay.
This chart is described & noted as unidentified in Johannesburg Pub. Lib.: Exhibition of decorative maps of Africa up to 1800, 1952, descriptive catalogue, p.168. Watermark is that used on paper made in Amsterdam c.1709. No printed copy has been traced so this may be an original chart made by a seaman during course of his duties.
