Plant with flowers and fruits, one fruit having split and scattered its seeds. s¹. green sepal; s³. coloured sepal; p⁴. petal as in Fig. 104. Fam. 66. Aquifoliaceae. C. Ilex mitis (L.) Radlk. (I. capensis). 1. Flowering twig with two dipterous insects which visit these flowers in numbers. 2. Flower. 3. Long. section of ovary. 4. Diagram (after Eichler). 5. Fruiting twig, the leaves removed. 6. Fruit, the upper half of the pericarp removed, showing 5 seeds. 7. Seed, long. section, showing the minute embryo in a copious endosperm.
