dc.description	Plumbaginaceae. A. Plumbago capensis Thunb. 1. Flowering twig with hawk moth, Theretra capensis. The caterpillar is frequent on the grape vine, the Virginia creeper and other Ampelidaceae. 2. The stigmas. 3. Section of ovary. 4. Basal portion of stamens, 10/1. 5. Anthers. 6. Young fruit, with withered corolla. 7. Ripe fruit. 8. Viscid gland from fruit. B. Statice scabra Thunb. 1. Plant (end of spring), the leaves drying off. 2. Twig. 3. Flowering branch (summer). 4. Flower, the stigmas projecting. 5. Corolla, opened. 6. Pistil. 7. Pollen grain. 8. Gland of leaf, secreting a saline fluid (after ENGLER).
