Section, showing the small endosperm and curved embryo (at foot of plate). C. S. quadrangulare Thunb. D. Lycium tetrandrum Thunb. 2 (on the right of the plate). Flower, but not typical, being the variety with five stamens which O. Kuntze has named Lycium horridum var. pentandrum. See Flora Cap. IV, 2, page 114. 3. Ovary. Fam. 122 B. Retziaceae. A. Retzia capensis Thunb. 1. Flowering twig. 2. Upper part of corolla flattened out. 3. Ovary. 4. Diagrammatic longit. section of ovary. (In nature ovules erect).
