dc.description	Compositae. Inuleae-Gnaphalinae. A. Gnaphalium luteo-album L. Cosmopolitan weed. B. Helipterum canescens DC. from Paarl mountains. 2. Feathery bristle of pappus. C. Helipterum eximium DC. from the Outeniqua mountains. 2. Section of involucral bract. D. Helichrysum vestitum (L.) Schrank, from Table Mountain, small plant. A white crab-spider lurking in one of the capitula, with its captured prey (a fly). 2. Corolla of floret laid open. 3. Larva of Haplothrips nigricornis living in the flowers of the capitulum. 4. Bristle of pappus. 5 to 7. Floret at three different stages of development. 5. The style with its branches firmly closed, brushing the pollen out of the staminal tube. 6. The closed style-branches protruding from the anther-tube, after the removal of the pollen. 7. The style-branches spread and ready to receive pollen from another floret.
