Abstract

Woodstock, Greek Orthodox Church. The Greek Orthodox Cathedral Saint George in Woodstock is an impressive building that is crowned with two bell towers, placed symmetrically around the central entrance. Both bells are hanging on chains that are turned around the yokes. For this reason, the bells can only be sound by pulling the clapper with the help of ropes from below. The bell in the right tower is substantially larger than the other. Below the bells are fixed floors that make it impossible to reach the bells from the inside. Using high ladders, it was possible to catch a glimpse of the large bell. The bell has a rather rough texture that suggest that the bells are not made by a genuine founder. A bit about the sound bow is an inscription that reads AEREA which seems to be followed by a number, possibly a date. It was impossible to reach, even photograph the bell on the left. Moreover, its sound suggested that the bell might be cracked.
