Herbertsdale, Buisplaas. The Lutheran Church in Buisplaas used to be at an outstation from Mossel Bay of the Berliner Missionsgesellschaft and this at least up to 1926. The bell is mounted on a solid stone construction. The bell itself is however rather disappointing. The maker's name does not appear on the bell, as is usually done with bronze bells. The only reference to a founder is visible in the middle of the yoke from which the bell is hung. There appears the number 12. However, we have found a number of similar bells, all made by the G.S. Bell Co Hillsboro, O. The company to which this refers is situated in Hillsboro, Ohio, U.S.A. The bells from this company are made of steel and are subject to rust. Also their sound is poor.
