dc.description.abstract | Newspaper advertisement by the Democratic Party (DP) encouraging South Africans to vote for them in order to avoid the inefficiency of the National Party (NP). The advertisement addresses concerns over voting rights being given to criminals convicted of serious offences. The DP suggests that this was made possible because of the inefficiency of the NP in running the prisons. The advertisement is also used to accuse the NP of secret deals between themselves and the African National Congress (ANC). A large image of notorious Cape Town serial murderer known as the "Station Strangler" fills the left-hand side of the advertisement. Issued by James Selfe. | en_ZA |
