Photographs and information on the bell of the United Reformed Church in Swellendam. Another church on the Rialton side of Swellendam is the Verenigde Gereformeerde Kerk. The church dates from 1971, thus of recent origin. On the right in front of the church stands a modest detached bell tower. The bell itself is a classic in the Western Cape but the one here is very well kept and gold painted. Closer inspection tells us that it is a Barwell bell with unknown founding date but with a very well kept founder’s emblem. Since this type of bell is very common in the region, there was no need to take measurements.
