Photographs and information on the bell on the Zonquasdrift estate near Riebeek Kasteel. he estate Zonquasdrift has a very neat bell tower. However, the bell that hangs in it doesn’t compete with the tower. For some unknown reason one had the idea that painting the bell and its joke in green would enhance the beauty of the tower.
The bell itself seems to be a copy of bells made by The C.S. Bell Company in Hillsboro, Ohio, US as we have found in Klein Parys in Paarl and in Oudekloof in Tulbagh. However, in both of these cases, the yokes carry indications on the foundry which is not the case for the bell in Zonquasdrift.
