dc.description.abstractPhotograph depicting Begbie’s iron foundry in ruins. The engineering workshop of the English firm Begbie was taken over as an ammunition factory by the Z.A.R. government at the end of 1899. On 24 April an explosion destroyed the factory and a few houses. Sabotage was suspected, but no proof could be found.
