Oudtshoor South, Dutch Reformed Church

Abstract

The congregation in NG-Suid was started in 1953. The first stone of the church was laid on 30 November 1968. Architects were Simpson & Bridgman. In the tower hangs a simple bell that carries no decorations. Just above the sound bow figures an oval plaque that informs us of the founder. In the middle of the plaque appears under a crown a nicely written letter R, emblem of the founding firm Rincker. To the left of the letter stands in two lines GEBR. / RINCKER. On the right one reads SINN / GERMANY. This foundry is amongst the oldest foundries, not just in Germany. It is still operational and is located in Sinn in Germany. The set of six bells in the NGK Mother Church of Stellenbosch forms the most important product of the company in the Western Cape.
