The NG-Wes congregation in Oudtshoorn was created in 1948. The building of the church started on 3 March 1961 under architect Hendrik Vermooten. In the tower of the church hangs a simple made bell that has as only inscriptions the name of the foundry. The inscription is found on the crown and reads as: S.A. HORLOSIE FABRIKANTE JOHANNESBURG. This bell is among the bells that seemingly have been made by a South African founder. This foundry is mainly known for its production of tower clocks. As with other business of this kind, the production of bells was secondary. This explains the simple appearance of the bell.
