dc.description	Compositae. Tribe IX. Calenduleae. A. Tripteris clandestina Less. 2. Achene, 3-winged. B. Dimorphotheca pluvialis Moench. 1. Plant with visiting fly, Nemopoda flavipennis. 2. Disc-floret, bisexual, but some are unisexual. 3. Style with closed branches (first stage). 4. Ray-floret, female. 5. Achene from disc-floret. 6. Achene from ray-floret. 7. The latter in section. 8. Fruiting capitulum (at upper end of plate). C. Osteospermum spinosum L. 1. Piece of plant, with visiting beetle, Heterochelus ditus. 2. Bract of involucre. 3. Ray-floret, female. 4. Disc-floret, male. 5. Style of disc-floret, the stigmas abortive. D. O. moniliferum L. Fruiting twig, the fruitlets (from the ray-florets only) nearly ripe. 2. Fruit (pseudodrupe), the juicy pericarp partly removed, showing the stone. 3. Stone in long. section. 2/1. The type of the tribe is Calendula officinalis, the common marigold.
