Maguire San Ethnobotanical Collection
The data was collected between 1952 and 1975 by Mr Brian Maguire and his wife Dr Judy Maguire in close collaboration with Ju|'hoansi from Namibia and ǃXoõ in Botswana. This is a comprehensive collection, meticulously documented in various mediums available at the time (slides, photographs, fieldnotes, journals, manuscripts and drawings) providing a detailed description of plant use by traditional hunter gatherers of the Kalahari. Plant uses were extensive and categorised into the following themes: edible, medicinal, cosmetic and economic (e.g. for making bows and arrows, rope etc.).
