| dc.description.abstract | Koelenhof, Hartenberg Wine Estate. The Hartenberg Wine Estate in Koelenhof has an impressive bell tower on its main parking lot. In the tower hangs a bell that is very similar to the bell in the Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl. Both bells are made in separate sections that are then put one on top of the other. The bell is made of shiny copper but carries no indications of date or founder. We have felt unable to measure the bell physically or even acoustically. As the pictures show a large wasp nest was attached to the clapper that would prevent safe sounding. | en |
